0 Scrap Paper Book for Memory Can

August 7, 2009

I have been feverishly scrapbooking the latest vacation and momentous occasions for my three children's books over the last week. As I have been going through my memory cans I noticed how I am writing most of my little notes on backs of receipts, etc (lots of notes on backs of prescriptions if I'm at the doctors!) because I never have a piece of paper handy when I am going to throw something in the can. Then I had a EUREKA moment! Why not make a little book of scrap paper and tie it to the can? Duh! So easy and simple. I already keep a pen beside it because I usually think of the thing I want to put in it when I see it, so having paper with it would be perfect. Write your note, tear the paper out of the book and voila!

I created this little booklet out of scrapping paper and regular white printer paper:

It's nothing real special (only had about 5 minutes to make it between nursing the baby and cooking dinner!), but it works. I punched two holes in it, tied some ribbon to hold the pages together, added the stamped "Memories" and tied it to the can:

I just picked a size and went with it (5x7 folded in half) and it fit nicely... hangs about an inch above the bottom of the can and doesn't overwhelm it (when you see the whole can - this view makes it seem like it does, but it doesn't! ;) )

I have decided that this is my new baby shower gift (sorry to any of my preggo friends for spoiling the surprise!). I will make a can to match the decor of the babies room and then fill it with goodies: an outfit, paci, blanket, shampoo, etc... all of those baby necessities! I would have loved receiving this as a gift, and hopefully others will too.

Before I go, here is one of my latest scrapbook designs for my sons book:

Happy crafting!
