5 years ago today, my husband and I adopted a beautiful little girl, and became the happiest parents on earth!
Cassidy - you came into our lives when you were only 3 years old. You were a beautiful, intelligent, vibrant little girl, able to put smiles on our faces when no one else could. We called you Daddy's little gift because you moved in with us the day after his 25th birthday. After 6 long months, we were finally able to adopt you and call you our own. You know how special you are to us. As I have told you many times, you may not have grown in my belly, but you have grown in my heart. I have watched you grow from a little girl to a young lady and every day I am amazed at your enthusiasm for life and the love you have for your younger brother and sister. You are a terrific big sister and your siblings look up to you so much!
I still remember the day we went to the courthouse to sign the adoption decree. We had just returned home from North Carolina the day before. You, me and dad were tan as could be (never happens for me and dad!!!). We dressed you in your little dress and the special hairtie and flower bracelet we bought just for this day. You looked so beautiful! We went to the courtroom and met all of our family and friends who were there to celebrate with us. The judge came in and we signed the paperwork (you signed your own name... you thought you were so big). Afterwards the social worker gave you your adoption bear and a bouquet of flowers and a balloon and you couldn't believe it! Ever since then you have requested a flower on your anniversary!
You may not remember, but when you were four years old and we celebrated your first adoption anniversary you weren't exactly sure what it meant, but you were so happy that it was your Anni-adoption!!! :) You got a balloon and a flower and had such a big smile on your face!
You have brought us so much love and I just want to say that I love you very much and I am very happy that we were able to choose each other to be parent and child. You continue to grow in my heart every day and I am excited to watch you through your journey in life.
Lots of love my little sweet pea,
Mom
