2 CW: REFASHIONED CLIPBOARD!

February 22, 2010

I am really excited to be here on Creativity Week and get to know you all!
Let me introduce myself.
I'm Tiffany, you can call me Tiff.

I share a new crafty tutorial every week on Tuesdays, and I try to always craft on the cheap by using things around the house that I already have on hand, and only buy minimal supplies.

Here are a few of the tutorials you can find...
Burlap Wreath with Big Buttons (made out of salt dough)
Napkin Rings (made out of a tin foil card board tube and burlap-or any other fabric on hand)
Desktop Calendars (made with the back of a picture frame-and the calendars pdf's Freebies are available with this tutorial)
Here's a little tutorial I put together this week.
Just a little something different for your kids that you can do with a clipboard and some fabric.

First I took an old clipboard and painted the back with chalkboard paint.
Then I took a fat quarter and cut it to be a little bigger than the clipboard. Then I folded over the edges and pressed and sewed them all the way around.
With more of that same fat quarter I made a little pocket on the piece of fabric.
Then I sewed straight lines up the pocket to make a place to put crayons, a pencil and some chalk. I made a bigger pocket to put a piece of felt to use as an eraser.
With a hole punch, I measured where the fabric would hit the clip of the clipboard and punched a hole. To make it more sturdy you could put a grommet or big eyelet-I just put a ribbon through both holes and tied it in a knot. Then using my glue gun I glued the edges down on the top.
The fabric serves two purposes, first of all a place to hold all of their stuff. Secondly, chalk is messy and this will protect their laps from all the dust when they are coloring on the paper.

I painted a tic tac toe board on the chalkboard with acrylic paint and stocked the front with lots of paper, the fabric can easily be flipped over the front or back.

Thanks Kim for having me here today, and I hope to get to know all of you!
Come by and say hi!
