12 HOW TO: CHANGE BUTTON SIZES

January 23, 2011

Ms Muffin asked:
"I would really love to add the party buttons of the parties that I join under each post that I link up - instead of the sidebar. They are becoming just too many ...
I saw on some blogs that they resized the buttons to very small and this way added a whole bunch under one post next to each other. How can I do that? "

Alright, Ms Muffin - to resize your buttons, first, go to your post, click Edit HTML and paste the button html into the bottom of your post.

Click back onto Compose.

Click our button and click Small.
Click Edit HTML.  Locate the button code.  It should look similar to this:

Where it says height, change it to whatever size you want - 75 would be good.  If it is a square button, then 75 for width as well.

That's it, your done.

This is also great if you have a 150 x 150 button and someone requests a 125 x 125 button of you.  Just change the height/width and you now have that button!

Of course, you can just type the height/width code directly into the html code as well.  I just wanted to give an example of how to make it do it for you!

Keep the questions coming!

  1. OH MY GOSH... YOU ROCK!!!! I have been having this same problem. I would actually take the button into Corel, resize, resave, relink, bla, bla, bla... what a pain!! I knew there had to be a way around this problem, but I'm not real familiar with HTML. Wonder if you could possibly solve another problem. I keep having problems getting the buttons to line up next to each other. Thanks again for your help, you DOUBLE rock!!!!! :-)

  2. Another tip is you don't have to put a height and a width. If you just include one in the HTML code (I usually just use height), it will keep the original aspect ratio and you don't have to worry about doing any calculations for non-square buttons.

  3. How funny, I've been having this problem with trying to list my blog parties. as a matter of fact, everything was getting SO screwy, that I decided to just go to text links.

My problem was; for some people's buttons, I looked for that "height" and "Width" part, and tried to change them to 125x125. Sometimes, it didn't work. :-( Or, if it didn't have any measurements at all, I'd try to add it (like you said), and I *STILL* can't get it to work for some buttons! So frustrating!! Which is why I'm just going to text links...

If you have to put them in yourself, is there any particular spot you need to put them in? I realize that I can't "interrupt" any other code, but does it have to be in a specific place?

  4. When I click "small" the buttons get LARGER! When I tried to change the code, I found that the code for the buttons I'm trying to use don't have dimensions listed!

    Any suggestions?
