Would you like to be able to create Expandable Read More Posts (techie term: truncating - learned something new today, didn't you!) in Blogger like in the above example?
It is super easy. Perhaps you have wondered what the heck this little icon in your post editor was:
It is called a Jump Break and it is what enables you to create an expandable read more post on your landing page.
So let's make this happen!
The first step is to create a post.
Type up your post and then decide what part you want to show on your main page of your blog and what you want to show only after hitting read more.
Place your cursor in that spot. Now click the Jump Break button. This is what you'll see:
That's it! When you publish your post, only the portion ABOVE the jump break will show in your blog and the reader will have to click on READ MORE to see the rest of the post.
Come back next week to learn how to customize the READ MORE text like in the above example.
NOTE: Some Customized templates may have an issue with Jump Breaks and html code would be required to make this work.
UPDATE: I've had a few people ask me why you would bother truncating your posts. There are multiple reasons: having a bunch of long posts on your main page slows the load time; having the reader click that READ MORE image brings them to a post and away from the main page, increasing your page views; I also feel like it is more professional looking and lets a reader see more of your posts with less clutter.
I have seen this on other blogs. Could you tell me what the advantages of doing this may be. I usually read my blogs in reader and I cannot say I especially like this feature as I have to click on the post to read more about it- I know lazy me!
But I am sure there are a lot of pluses to doing this and am wondering what they may be.
Below are a few of my most visited posts. I hope you enjoy looking around!
I try to host my parties for under $100. I want them to be festive and fun, but not break the bank! Most of my parties include free printables for your use. Please remember, they are for personal use only!

If linking to one of my free printables PLEASE only link to my blog post, not the printable link. Free printables are for personal use only and may not be altered in any way.
I have a question. I understand how the jump break works, but what are the advantages of doing this instead of just keeping the post all on one page?

Possibly a stupid question, but do you have to manually do this to every prior post to make them all the same? Thanks.
