2 My Weekend Wrap-Up

March 14, 2011

Beth and Ryan, where are you?  You won the Shabby Apple giveaway, but I do not have an email for you. Please email me at 733blog@gmail.com or I will be forced to pick a new winner (sorry, no time to track winners down, so PLEASE, PLEASE, if you do not have your email in your profile, go fix the problem STAT!).

HAPPY MONDAY!  How was your weekend?  Mine was busy!  Moving cupboards, ripping out a range hood, going to the movies, working it at Zumba, sewing bags and bathing cats!

One of the things I hated when moving into our house was that it did not have a microwave above the stove.  I finally convinced hubby it was time to figure out how we could make that happen!  We both talked and decided we were fine if our cupboards were two different levels (to allow the proper clearance from stove top to bottom of microwave), so we decided to move forward.  Always easier when you plan it in your head, right?  First we had to remove the ugly range hood, move the cupboard and then install an electrical box inside the cupboard.  We moved onto the next step of installing the microwave only to realize the mounting hardware actually would go down into the tile backsplash.  We realized this at about 8pm on Saturday night and my husband was flying out to Arizona for a week for work Sunday at 9am.  So the picture above is how my "soon to be microwave" still looks!  We decided we are going to remove the old backslash, which we weren't fond of anyway, and replace it with 1"x1" glass tiles (YIPEEEEEEEEEEE!!!).  So check back to see the result in a few weeks.

We are also going to be putting in a pass-through from our kitchen to our living room which I cannot WAIT to have done - it will open up the house more and also be nice when entertaining.  I'll make sure to take lots of before's and after's to show all of you.

I also put ordered my FREE Picaboo book that How Does She? (thanks ladies!) informed me of!  It is chocked full of pictures from our recent Carnival Cruise and Busch Gardens trip!

My kids love to help me craft, so last night after reading TONS of books, we decided to make a small book bag for my Godson, Landon.  We whipped that up in about 20 minutes and then picked a few books to give to him.

After I put the kids to bed last night I grabbed the cat, some peroxide, baking soda and dish soap and headed to the bathroom.  I was prepared for a fight and lots of howling, but was pleasantly surprised when their was a bare minumum of each.  Guess he got sick of smelling nasty as well.  Of course, MY CAT is the only cat that gets sprayed by a skunk in the middle of winter.  This happened a week ago yesterday and we used a spray solution on him that smelled almost as bad as the skunk, so I finally gave in yesterday and bathed... still TBD on whether it worked or not!

Wishing you all a happy week!

  1. mmmm Skunk smelll.. NOT!!! Of course they only get sprayed when you are not prepared, but that led me to the best find ever. I made do with the old spice bath and body my son uses and it took the smell completely away!!! Not sure if they would appreciate knowing that, but it works very well!

  2. My mother has three Manx cats and two dogs that seem to always be getting sprayed by skunks. She's used a peroxide/dish soap recipe for years with great success. I hoped it worked well for you too!
