Loving my new stencil wall, courtesy of
Cutting Edge Stencils
(also available on Etsy, which is where I found them)

Cutting Edge Stencils carry gorgeous, REUSABLE, wall stencils.  They are pretty cost effective and are made out of a durable plastic material, so if you store it properly, you can use it again in the future.

Cutting Edge Stencils sent me their Rabat Allover Small Scale stencil, and as soon as I got the first stencil up, I was in love!  I'm not gonna lie, it does take a bit of work to stencil the entire wall (and my wall was small), but the end result is SO worth it.  And if you follow the instructions you will be happy with your end result.

The stencil came rolled up, so I pulled it out of the package and laid it flat on the floor with heavy items on each end to flatten it (the instructions said you could use a hair dryer to speed up this process).  Cutting Edge Stencils also included a foam roller and their patent pending stencil level, both of which make ALL the difference when stenciling with these large stencil sheets.  Foam rollers and stencil level can be purchased through Cutting Edge.

I was happy with the large size of the stencil sheet - 24" x 42".  It covers a large portion of the wall and makes it feel like the process is going along quicker.  I do HIGHLY suggest purchasing the special stencils they make to go along the top of your wall if you are planning on using an allover wall stencil.  You can see I struggled a bit with the top areas and ended up using a small paint brush to touch up near the ceiling and baseboards.

This entire wall, prep time and clean up included, took me 3 hours.  I used Valspar paint from Lowe's (received a sample by liking them on Facebook and it was more than enough to stencil this wall - would have had even more leftover if I hadn't dropped the stencil and spilled the bottle of paint... on the hardwoord floor...).  It took several light coats to get an even application.  Cutting Edge does have some paint recommendations in their How to Stencil section, so if you are looking for a one-coat paint, check out who they recommend.

I also want to make sure that you realize when you move to the next panel of stenciling that you are not going to line up perfectly (at least for an allover wall stencil).  I tried to make sure the top left corner and bottom left corner lined up with the last section I painted.  You won't notice any irregularities (unless you are REALLY off) when all is said and done.

You can see above how it doesn't line up perfectly - that is OK!  Just get it close.  ALSO NOTE: In that left image - I did not repaint the section that I was lining up with (already has paint) - I avoided those patterns so as not to cause a bleed effect.

Below is before and after:

Can you say LOVE, LOVE, LOVE?
Seriously, this wall just makes me smile.
