First - who watches True Blood? Are you loving this season? I read all the books prior to watching the show, and I love to see how they do things different. The part of Eric loosing his memory was one of my favorite parts... and I love how Alexander Skarsgard is representing it! Holla' to the Fang Bangers!
So not much crafting going on here right now. However I did want to take a moment to say thanks to all the well wishers. It was great logging into my email and having a ton of get well wishes, it helped make the days better. And for those that asked: knee surgery went well. I had an arthoscopic surgery check on the plugs I had put in during an modified OATS (used cadaver plugs instead of my own cartilage) procedure back in 2005. One of the plugs was in perfect shape, unfortunately the second one was not. It was cracked and basically I have some bone on bone action which is causing lots of pain and grinding. This surgery told my surgeon that I will need a second, much more intense surgery known as an allograft. I will be put on a donor list, and when a match is found for my size, they will harvest cartilage from the cadavers knee and will size it to the defect in my knee (my surgeon took my measurements this past surgery). They will have 30 days to harvest the cartilage and implant it into me. I'm not ready to take that plunge yet... the recovery period is 8 weeks on crutches and 6 months to 1 year until back to full activity. That's a long time to be out of the exercise game for me! Plus being on crutches with young kids is never fun. AND the PT involved is pretty intense. After my last surgery is 2005 I had to go 3x a week for 2 months, 2x a week for 2 months and 1x a week for 1 month! Lots of time AND money!
That was a lot of info, but that's where I stand. Sort of in limbo at the moment.
My husband is also in MD for the week, so its just me and the kiddos. And my birthday is this weekend and we are taking the new camper for a long weekend, so although I won't be posting many crafts here, I will be thinking of you all and I will be excited to see what you have to share during Sugar & Spice Wednesday and What are little boys made of Thursday!
Wishing you all a great week! And because no photo posts are no fun:
My little one playing in the boat the hubster boat me so I could still float in the pool and not submerge my knee. Isn't he thoughtful? HA HA - and yes, I used it!
LOVE True Blood! I'm glad they're changing it up, too! I'm looking forward to seeing what they do with the Eric-Sookie story! Hope the mending goes well!
Oh gosh, somehow I missed the knee discussion at some point OR (and this is entirely possible too) I forgot I read it. You surely don't need or want any advice I'm sure. I'll just tell you I feel for you on the bone on bone pain. I live this daily in both my knees. I was told 10 yrs ago by the ortho surgeon he didn't want to do the knee replacements on either leg until it was to the point where I just could not handle the pain any longer. HA. I passed that years ago. I was told about this two weeks before my wedding. Nice time to hear a doctor tell you he'd be surprised if you made the age of 50 without being in a wheelchair eh? Yea, I was about 40yrs old at that point. Fast forward to now? No one wants to do it because of my health and the blood thinners I have to do. I WISH now I'd have pushed that ortho surgeon a bit more back then. Heck, because of those rotten blood thinners I can't even take Celebrex to help with the pain for more than a week or so before I have to get back off because it triples the numbers I get from my protime testing to check how thin my blood is. That kind of pain is such a hard thing to deal with daily and OMG I can't imagine dealing with that as you are with small children. At least in my case, my kids are all grown and out of the house so I don't HAVE to get up and chase little ones around all day long. BIG HUGS to you.
Below are a few of my most visited posts. I hope you enjoy looking around!
