{Spread the word!  Grab a button!}

It is here!  Today is the beginning of the Knock It Off contest!

PLEASE READ THIS WHOLE POST BEFORE LINKING UP.  I HAVE HAD TO DELETE SEVERAL ENTRIES FOR NOT FOLLOWING THE RULES AND I DON'T WANT THAT TO HAPPEN TO YOU!

Link up an item that you have created by "Knocking off" a brand - such as recreating a mirror you would see at Pottery Barn or an outfit from Anthropologie.  This is not an anonymous contest, so the more supporters you send to vote for your project the better your chances at winning!

THIS IS NOT JUST ANOTHER LINKY PARTY - PLEASE ONLY LINK UP PROJECTS THAT FIT WITH THESE RULES:

a) Post the Knock It Off button in your sidebar
b) Blog about your Knock-off piece, including materials used, a photo of your inspiration piece, and a link back to seven thirty three
c) Link up your Knock-off post below

Only one entry per blog please. | Open to US residents only.

You have until Noon EST on February 11 to link up.  The top 10 will be picked by myself, Michelle from Someday Crafts and Char from Crap I've Made and will be announced on February 13.  Voting will be open to everyone starting February 13 and will end on February 18 with the Knock It Off Champion being announced on February 19!

Rocket and Moon Cake

1 comment:
The kids and I threw a little birthday celebration for my husband last Sunday, so of course cake was involved.  The kids decided they wanted to pick the cake and help me make and decorate it.

The first idea they had was a robot, but once I looked up some design ideas my son decided HE wanted a robot themed party this year... so onto the next idea.

My husband likes both Star Wars and Star Trek (with a good dose of ESPN in between) so they decided we should make him a Rocket Ship going to the moon.  And that is exactly what we did, with a little Alien and all:

The moon is the rounded top portion of the 10" cake that I removed to level off the cake. More a cake for a child, but the kids helped and had lots of input, so it is what it is!

We used red shoe lace licorice to outline the rocket and my son stuck it into the bottom of the cake as fire.  We also used Spree, and Starburst softened, rolled out and cut into shapes.
This cool little guy peeking out of the cake was made from softened green Tootsie Rolls and the red was Starburst.

The kids were super excited to show off their creation and I think they did a terrific job helping me!

Don't forget the Knock It Off! Contest starts this Monday!  Come link up your fabulous Knock-Offs.  Guidelines can be found here.

Well Good Winner - Redo and a Love Bug!

3 comments:

So I never heard back from the winner of the Well Good giveaway, so here is the new winner:

TeenaBug38
(Check your inbox!)

Speaking of Well Good, I put together the Love Bug kit Wendy sent me:
Isn't it just adorable?  I may have gone a little bit heavy with the red and pink... could have used another color to break it up a bit, but I really do love it!  My seasonal decor is just getting so darn cute!  My son really loves helping me put these things together.  It really is pretty child friendly if you want a project for you and your kids!

And I wanted to give my Hubby a quick shout-out:
HAPPY 32nd BIRTHDAY JAKE! {My old man - 3.5 years my senior!!!}
Love you just as much as when I met you when you were just a wee child of 20!
