 Link up an item that you have created by "Knocking off" a brand - such as recreating a mirror you would see at Pottery Barn or an outfit from Anthropologie.  This is not an anonymous contest, so the more supporters you send to vote for your project the better your chances at winning!   THIS IS NOT JUST ANOTHER LINKY PARTY - PLEASE ONLY LINK UP PROJECTS THAT FIT WITH THESE RULES: a) Post the Knock It Off button in your sidebar
b) Blog about your Knock-off piece, including materials used, a photo of your inspiration piece, and a link back to seven thirty three
c) Link up your Knock-off post below

2 HOW TO: Number your comments

A lot of you have been emailing me to let me know the last tutorial I shared on how to number your comments in Blogger is no longer available, so here is another one you can try.   Note - you do not need to do step 3 on, it is totally optional. And once again, don't forget that the Knock It Off contest starts TOMORROW!  Got a knock off project you think can win?  Come on over and link it up!  Just make sure you follow the rules and you have a chance of winning a GREAT prize!

1 Go for Launch!

The kids and I threw a little birthday celebration for my husband last Sunday, so of course cake was involved.  The kids decided they wanted to pick the cake and help me make and decorate it.

 The first idea they had was a robot, but once I looked up some design ideas my son decided HE wanted a robot themed party this year... so onto the next idea. My husband likes both Star Wars and Star Trek (with a good dose of ESPN in between) so they decided we should make him a Rocket Ship going to the moon.  And that is exactly what we did, with a little Alien and all:

The moon is the rounded top portion of the 10" cake that I removed to level off the cake.

We used red shoe lace licorice to outline the rocket and my son stuck it into the bottom of the cake as fire.  We also used Spree, and Starburst softened, rolled out and cut into shapes.

This cool little guy peeking out of the cake was made from softened green Tootsie Rolls and the red was Starburst.

The kids were super excited to show off their creation and I think they did a terrific job helping me!

If you are looking for sweet, vintage, funky clothing for your little girls, then look no further than Whimsy Couture! This great Etsy shop that provides pattern tutorial eBooks for sewers of all levels!  The shop has so many great tutorials to choose from and because you purchase them you are able to make them over and over again in different sizes and fabrics!  And Denise, the owner of Whimsy Couture also allows garments made using her patterns to be sold. What is the advantage to purchasing an eBook?  It is a full tutorial, including pattern and colorful photographs to help you step by step.  And of course, it is paperless, but if you do need to, you can print it off! I know you are dying to see what types of items you can make with these eBooks, so here is a taste:

Alright ladies... I've been seeing such wonderful Knock-offs lately that I decided seven thirty three should host a contest dedicated to Knock-offs.

BASIC PREMISE:
Link up an item that you have created by "Knocking off" a brand - such as recreating a mirror you would see at Pottery Barn or an outfit from Anthropologie.  This is not an anonymous contest, so the more supporters you send to vote for your project the better your chances at winning!
