When Krysta contacted me from Steen Health Solutions, a Shaklee Distributor, about doing a review on their most popular cleaning solution, Basic H, I said "HECK YES!". I'm an OCD cleaner. I NEED a clean house. If I see a mark on the wall, I'll grab my magic eraser and spend an error tracking down each little one! For a while last year I had a house keeper and it was so amazing not coming home from work to completely stress out about cleaning my house. I mean I still vacuumed everyday and mopped, etc, but the dusting and full-on cleaning was done once a week in a 4 hour stretch. The tubs, toilets, everything was taken care of and then I just did the surface cleaning. Unfortunatley, the house keeper became unreliable and I haven't found anyone up to par since! SO, it is back on my shoulders. I have now dedicated a 4 hour block on Sundays to cleaning, and then surface clean throughout the week. I'm always looking for the best cleaner. I usually use Windex Multipurpose on my coutners, cabinets, baseboards, and bathroom sinks. For my kitchen sinks and bathtubs I use a combo of Softscrub with Bleach and a Magic Eraser. And I am a total fan of the Scrubbing Bubbles Toilet Wands.

However, these do all utilize chemicals, so a greener alternative is always a good thing. When I received the little vial of Basic H I was happily surprised to find that it would create two 16 oz cleaning solutions - one for windows and one for general use. I tried the window cleaner on my back patio door and it worked well. No streaking and took care of the prints. That received an A.
The general use cleaner is made for use on all washable surfaces including the following: Walls, Windows and Mirrors, Countertops, Floors, Appliances, Stoves, Sealed Woodwork, Pots and Pans, Furniture! I used it on my counters and table and it worked fine. It didn't leave a residue and their is no associated odor. I like the fact that it is non-toxic (obviously - I have young children and pets, so this is a no brainer!), natural and has biodegradable surfactants.
I also tried it on my stove and it worked OK. It didn't eat away the grease that was at the base of my burner, but it got rid of the everyday mess and didn't streak, which is one of the things I dislike with using the Magic Eraser on my stove {Krysta emailed me to let me know that Shaklee has a Scouring Paste that works wonders on grease). I also tried it on my sink with the same success rate. I really liked using it on my baseboards because it seems gentler then my other cleaners. I followed it with the usual dryer sheet to help repel the dust and I was super satisfied. Overall, it is a good general cleaner, although I will have to pull out the big guns for more stubborn stains like in my white ceramic sink and stove. Now the fun part - 5 of you lucky readers will receive a sample vial of Basic H.
