Today I'm going to show you how to have the Linkwithin Gadget only appear on a post page, not under every post on your main page. It still allows you promote your older posts, but is less obtrusive and doesn't clutter up your main page. Please note: If you have a custom template this may not work. The first step is to go to LinkWithin and type in the information into the form as follows: Your EmailYour Blog Link Home Page (ie, www.733blog.com)Platform: CHOOSE OTHERWidth - 3, 4, or 5 thumbnails (totally up to you).
Click GET WIDGET.Switch over to a new browser tab or window and go to your Blogger Dashboard. Depending on what you are using for a Blogger Interface you will either choose Design, Edit HTML or Template, Edit HTML.
Make sure to check Expand Widget Templates.
Search using your browser search feature (CTRL+F) for the following code:
Immediately below this line add:
Switch back over to your LinkWithin tab and copy the code.Switch back to your Blogger EDIT HTML screen and paste the code immediately below the line you just added. Lastly right below that type:
If should look like this (this is using my LinkWithin code, so my site ID number will differ from yours):
Now what if you don't want it to say "You may also like:" above the gadget.
To add your own text add, below this line:
Add:
Replace YOUR CUSTOM PHRASE with whatever you want the title to be. For example, mine is RECOMMENDED READING.
Hit Save and view a post to see your changes.
Now your LinkWithin thumbnails will appear only post pages, but it is still above your footer.
If you prefer that it be positioned under your post footer but above the comments section do the following:
Go back to your EDIT HTML page and click Expand Widget Templates.
Locate the following code:
Immeditately below that line add:
It should look like this:
Click Save and you are done!
Don't dare do this on your own? No problem, for $15 I'll take care of it all for you!
Just send me an email at 733blog.com!
I tried this and it didn't work :( The LinkWithin widget doesn't show up on my main page. Is it because I have my posts truncated? Will it show up at the bottom of the full post if you click 'read more'?
ReplyDeleteThe point of that tutorial was so that LinkWithin DOES NOT show up on the main page. It is only suppose to show up on the Post Page - when you click either read more or the post title.
Deletethere's more than 3 '' in my template, and i put in the middle of them, and it works! (after i finished a pack of cigarets)...haha
ReplyDeletethanks for the tutorial
