Do you currently truncate your posts on your homepage like I do?
I've previously shared how to do so in blogger, as well as what the benefits for doing so are, HERE.
But does having your post footer show below the "READ MORE" text or image make it feel like things are too cluttered? I felt like it was and wanted it removed from my homepage. Doing so gives it more of a WordPress style feel. Less clutter = easier readability for the user! With that in mind I also removed the inlinkz widget from my homepage so that too only shows at the bottom of an actual post page. Find out how I did that HERE.
Above is how my homepage post summaries looked previously. I had already removed the inlinkz gadget so it was already less cluttered, but I still didn't feel like I needed that post footer on each post! Below is how things look now:
OK, have you decided to remove your post footer from your home page?
Alrighty then!
Visit THIS post to learn the CSS to do so. It is a super simple copy and paste.
Thanks for the great tip. I have a question. Do you have to go in to each post and edit it to be truncated when you add a new one? Or, is there some code that truncates old posts?
Thank you sooooo much I spent the afternoon cleaning up the bottom of my read more post....check it out @CountryMommaCooks.com I so proud of it.... a few more tweaks and I'm calling it finished:)
Okay - so I want to do this. But when I do the truncating - does it automatically post the whole FIRST post? I want mine to be like yours. :) Or do you go back and edit your posts to add the jump break after you post a new post? Wow, that was a lot of "posts" in one sentence.
Below are a few of my most visited posts. I hope you enjoy looking around!
I try to host my parties for under $100. I want them to be festive and fun, but not break the bank! Most of my parties include free printables for your use. Please remember, they are for personal use only!
