I was a huge Princess fan as a child. I still love all the stories and I love to see "live-action" adaptations of them! When the creators of the new movie Mirror Mirror, starring Julia Roberts, contacted me to create a craft inspired by the movie, I didn't hesitate to say yes. Especially since this is a Snow White tale and that is my youngest daughters favorite princess! Mirror Mirror will be in theaters March 30, so make a date with the girls (big or small) and head out to see it! The film is rated PG.
One of the most beloved stories of all time is coming to life in the motion picture Snow White legend, Mirror Mirror. A fresh and funny retelling of the Snow White legend, Mirror Mirror features breakout star Lily Collins (The Blind Side) as Snow White, a princess in exile, and Oscar®-winner Julia Roberts as the evil Queen who ruthlessly rules her captured kingdom. Seven courageous rebel dwarfs join forces with Snow White as she fights to reclaim her birthright and win her Prince in this magical adventure comedy filled with jealousy, romance, and betrayal that will capture the hearts and imaginations of audiences the world over. The film also stars Armie Hammer (The Social Network) as the Prince, and Nathan Lane (The Birdcage) as the hapless and bungling servant to the Queen.Today I will share with you a Princess party favor mirror I made inspired by this dress:

Supplies:

1. Cut a 18" x 2" strip of crinoline and accordian fold it.

2. Match up the two ends to form a circle and hot glue together. I also added some hot glue in the center to keep it in its circle form.

3. Lay the circle on the felt and cut around it so that there is about a 1/2" of felt showing.

4. Cut slits all the way around the felt.

5. Hot glue the felt to the back of the crinoline.

6. This step is optional - I used my craft cutter and vinyl to create a "Mirror Mirror" stencil that I placed on the mirror. Using the Glass Etch (I used Armour Etch) I followed the directions on the package and layed it on thick over the stencil. After 60 seconds I washed it away with water and removed the stencil.

7. Hot glue the mirror to the front of the crinoline.

8. Cut a length of ribbon and create a loop by gluing the two ends together.

10. Step back and admire your handiwork!

Very cute idea! Love the tiny Mirror Mirror wording you added!
ReplyDeleteThanks Geri! I contemplated adding each girls names to the mirrors to personalize, but think the mirror was too small. Maybe the next step up would work well for that! :)
