3 DIY Ribbon Lanyard

Last time we went to Disney I didn't really carry much with me - I let my husband carry it all in his wallet... but that got to be a pain when we would split up and I decided it was snack time or what not.  And of course now with fast passes I want to be able to have a place to store them and also have easy access to them.  I decided a change purse on a lanyard would be the perfect solution for me.
I purchased an adorable padded card/coin purse from A Helping Hand Bag and was pleasantly surprised to find out that they were donating ten percent of each sale in August to Hope House of North Georgia, www.hopehouseofnorthgeorgia.com, a safe place to protect vulnerable children.

9 DIY Autograph Books!

I'm prepping for our Disney World vacation that is coming up in October... I KNOW I have two more months, I'm a planner, remember?  Anyway, our last trip to Disney when our oldest was 5 was FILLED with meeting all sorts of characters... as was our Honeymoon trip to vacation (seriously, my husband had never been... he was a kid in a candy store - best honeymoon EVER).  We purchased the Disney Autograph book and pen last time, but there really wasn't a good way to add pictures and the book isn't cheap.  I decided this time I would make each of my kids a book that they could bring with them and fill with all of their favorite characters signatures and when we got home we could fill it with pictures of them and said characters. This is how I created mine... for $2.60 each!

8 MASH - I'm bringing it back!

Ok, not really sure it ever went away, but I'm totally bringing it back!  You all know what MASH is, right?  You know, that fortune telling game you scribbled onto a scrap piece of paper in gym class (wait, you didn't do it gym class... was that just me?) or at the lunch table.  You'd write MASH along the top (stands for Mansion, Apartment, Shack, House) and then have different categories that you and your friend completed.  After the "board" was all filled in, you'd either put hash marks or draw a spiral until your friend said STOP.  Count up the marks and that is the number you use to go around the board, crossing off everything until you had only one item under each category... that then told the player who they would marry, how many kids they would have, where they would live, etc.

7 And the voyage {of Kindergarten} begins...

My baby boy starts Kindergarten at the end of this month.  My precious little bundle of joy that took us 8 months to conceive... that took me 22 hours of labor and 3 hours of pushing to finally meet... that is just my sweetest love bug who wears his emotions on his sleeve... is starting KINDERGARTEN!  No, I cannot believe that 5 years have already come and gone, but I know one thing. He is 100% ready to start his school career.  We have been practicing hair styles, gone school shopping and have talked about what he can expect.  The count down calendar has been hung and we are prepared.  And of course, that includes his first foray into the first day of school photo shoot!

Because this is his first year I won't be able to do a "check out last year's first day of school" photo like I do for his sister, so I decided we would start his career off with a "1st Day of Kindergarten" sign.

1 Family Time - It's Great Medicine!

I love spending quality time with my family.  Whether we are hanging at home or out and about.  We've been doing a lot of extra family time the last few weeks, so I just haven't had crafting time, which I am OK with.  Of course that means I have less fodder for this here ole bloggy blog.

Why I love my backyard space...

{My back deck with my patio furniture that I absolutely LOVE!  It is super solid and HEAVY, so no blowing over and definitely no shattering like our last glass top table.  Now I just need an outdoor rug for underneath it.}

As I mentioned in my last backyard oasis post, my husband built us a lovely new back deck.  At that point we were still in the process of stripping the stain so hadn't had our patio furniture out yet.  I am excited to say that trying process is over and our furniture is out and getting lots of use!  We love to eat family dinners at our patio table on warm, breezy evenings.  I spend lots of time in our lounger watching the kids swim, while I read a book or just sit back and relax.

I have snuggled my babies, laughed with my grandparents and hosted lots of birthday parties in this area.  And I can't forget all the hard work my husband put in to creating this space for his family.  Coming home after a long day at the office and working on the deck as well as sacrificing two full weekends to get it completed.  I have so many memories that I will remember, and I hope my kids will too, for the rest of my life!
