Today I am going to introduce you to a new product by Coats and Clark called Phoomph.
What is Phoomph you ask? It is a new fabric bonding sheet that creates texture and dimension without any sewing or ironing. It truly is very easy to use:
Seriously, that's it!
Yesterday I shared the Sofia the First birthday invite that I created and after I saw this new product I thought it would be PERFECT for creating a simple fabric crown for a Sofia party. I was right {love when that happens}!
One happy Princess.
After peeling, sticking and cutting, I used rhinestones and some fancy trim to bling out the crown.
This thing really sparkles! She throws off little rainbows every time she is in the sun... and I bet you can imagine how often she is trying to find a sunbeam!
My camera was dead when I made this,
but it is super simple and I think an explanation without pictures should suffice:
I measured my daughters head and then stuck two sheets together, overlapping one over the other slightly, adhering them together. Measure the two sheets and trim to the length of your child's head, plus 1", so I had a long sheet that was 20" x 9". I stuck fabric to the sheets on both sides, drew out the crown shape and then cut it out. Try it on your child to make sure it fits and then hot glue the two end pieces to secure. Decorate as desired. (Let me know if you have any questions!)
This was a prototype and I didn't really spend much time on the shape of the crown. I have plenty of Phoomph left and may create a second, more intricate crown. A princess has to options!
Phoomph comes in eight colors and two textures, soft
and stiff. Phoomph is
launching now and will be available at fabric, quilt, and craft retailers
nationwide with a suggested retail price of only $2.99 per 9”x12” sheet.
DISCLOSURE: I received several packages of Phoomph in order to write this post.
